Propeller Car Project
Learn to make a propeller car to use for various science and engineering activities as students discover physics
Assembling the Propeller Car
Here are directions that can be followed to assemble the propeller car.
The following materials were purchased in order to put together kits for students to create the propeller car.
- For the body I bought the following from home depot
- 2 1/2 inch trim wood and then cut, sanded, and predrilled holes
- #4 x 1/2 in wood screws (2 per car)
- #17 x 1 in wire brads (2 per car)
- #216 zinc screw eyes (4 per car)
When I purchased the kit below from amazon, it did not have enough wheels and axles to make 18 cars so I purchased an additional package of axles and wheels.

You can see a video of how to put together the propeller car here to help scaffold students that have trouble with the written directions.
Using the Seconds Count Timing Timing Systems App
Learn to use the seconds count timing system to collect data using displacement and time that a propeller car traveled down a per meter marked track.
Graphing Time Displacement Data With Google Sheets
Learn to use Google Sheets to make position time and velocity time graphs with your time displacement data from your propeller car data.
