Angular Projectile Motion Practice

Angular Projectile Motion Practice

Get practice trying additional angular projectile motion problems and check your solutions with our help in the video here.  The video here talks out the logic to determine givens and solve.

1A. Matt Ryan throws a football to Julio Jones who catches it at the same height.  The throw has an initial speed of 25.0 m/s at an angle of 35.00 above the horizontal.  What is the horizontal component of the football’s velocity just before the catch?

20.48 meters per second

1B. Matt Ryan throws a football to Julio Jones who catches it at the same height.  The throw has an initial speed of 25.0 m/s at an angle of 35.00 above the horizontal.  How long is the football in the air?

            2.87 seconds

2. A cork shoots out of a champagne bottle 22 m/s at an angle of 19.00 above the horizontal where it lands at the same height. How far downrange does the cork land?

            29.74 meters

3. Julie Ertz kicks a soccer ball with an initial speed of 10.2 m/s in a direction 25.00 above the horizontal. What is the greatest height this soccer ball will reach?

0.93 meters

4. You use a hose to spray your house angle of 40.0° above the horizontal. The water leaves the nozzle with a speed of 28.0 m/s. How far from your house should you stand away to wash the highest spot?  (Water is the projectile here)

38.52 meters

5. Trying to make a field goal, Younghoe Koo kicks a football at 32 m/s at an angle of 45° above the horizontal. If the field goal crossbar is 5.64 m tall and located 20 meters downrange. How much higher or lower than the field goal crossbar is the football at the moment it passes the crossbar?

10.36 meters above the crossbar

6. Bob Gill is attempting to jump as many cars as possible, each 1.7 meters wide and side by side. What is the maximum number of cars Bob Gill can jump with a ramp speed of 40 m/s and an angle above the horizontal of 22° landing at the same height?

Bob Gill Jumping Cars

65 cars
