One Dimensional Motion Practice Problem Set
Walk through our one dimensional motion practice problem set below. These have problems with constant motion, accelerated motion, and acceleration due to gravity mixed in.
Note About Our 1D Motion Solutions:
- We did not put a direction in the answer when a direction was not specified and it was not a gravity question. On any of those questions the direction you could add would be forward.
- We did not use significant figures in our answers and just included a few decimal points where appropriate
- All solutions are explained in the video here
Mixed 1D Motion Problem Set
1. What is the final velocity of a bicycle starting at 2.0 m/s accelerating at 1.5 m/s2 for 3.0 seconds?
2. What is the initial velocity of a ball thrown down off a building that hit the ground at 32 m/s after 2.0 seconds?
3. What was the average velocity of a plane that takes 3600 seconds to travel 417600 meters?
4. You are driving at 12 m/s when you hit the gas to pass another car. What is your final velocity if you accelerated at 3.2 m/s2 for 60 meters?
5. How far has a ball fallen downward from rest by the time it is traveling 32 m/s downward
6. How tall is a building if a ball dropped from rest takes 9 seconds to hit the ground?
7. How long does it take you to travel 200 meters if you constantly accelerate from 2.0 m/s to 20 m/s?
8. How far have you traveled after going a constant 5.0 m/s for 8.0 seconds?
9. What is the acceleration of a Ford Mustang GT that can go from 0 to 26.8 m/s in 5 seconds?
10. How far has a ball traveled after 3 seconds when thrown downward at a velocity 3.6 m/s?
11. What is an objects acceleration that takes 500 meters to go from 5.0 m/s to 80 m/s?
12. How far have you moved while constantly accelerating from a velocity of 2.0 m/s to 15 m/s in 10 seconds?
13. What is the acceleration of a car that travels a constant velocity of 3.0 m/s for 5 s?
